Description:
  The headpiece carving for this staff is an eagle head that was hand carved in
Bali. We obtained the headpiece carving and then combined it with our hand shaped staff. The main
wood is mahogany and makes up the headpiece and the lower part of the staff. The exotic wood
section above the handle is a combination of Spalted Maple, Gabon Ebony, and Purpleheart. At
the bottom of the staff is another section of exotic woods like the upper section. A core of
solid oak runs completely through the exotic woods to add more strength to the joints.
The high gloss finish consists of a base of several treatments with hand rubbed teak
oil. The oil finish is then covered with several coats of shellac.
The staff features a tightly wrapped and unique caramel brown suede leather handle.
The handle has been designed to "lace up" like a corset with black satin cord ties. The leather
handle can be moved or removed if desired without harming the finish of the staff, simply by
loosening the laces.
The bottom of the staff has a friction fit rubber tip to protect the end. The rubber
tip absorbs the impact and wear from contact with the ground and is easily replaceable.
The eagle headpiece wears a black and gray agate crystal donut pendant. The pendant
has four cord drops with nickel beads and black duck wingtip feathers.
The staff also includes a black diamond pleated soft cotton padded fabric case to
protect the staff during storage or transportation. The case has long drawstring ties and
the top is long enough that it can be folded over and tied to add more protection at the
top.

  This staff is made of laminated Eastern Red Cedar (two pieces of 3/4 x 1-1/2) with an
upper section of Purpleheart wood with thin white Poplar trim. The Purpleheart wood section
is permanently laminated into the staff and threaded steel shanks reinforce the joints.
Yes, ... that IS the natural color of Purpleheart wood. It is beautiful wood and it turns
bright purple upon exposure to air and light.
The unique flame point crystal is permanently attached to the top of the staff. This
style of crystal is very energetic and looks stunning as a headpiece. The flame point gets its
name from its unique cut which is continuous faces twisting from the bottom to the top point.
Copper banding trims the staff where the crystal is attached.

The staff has a spiral wrapped suede leather handle with copper trim following the
spiral. Contrasting leather thongs trim the top and bottom of the leather handle. The lower
thong has extended tips with solid copper beads and duck feathers. The leather handle is
tightly wrapped on the staff and glued only to itself and not the staff finish. Therefore
the handle could be removed or redone without damaging the wood finish. The high gloss finish
consists of many coats of clear lacquer.

This staff also includes a foam padded bonnet that ties onto the crystal for added protection.
The bonnet fits inside the pleated cloth case to double up on protection. Flame points are
exceptionally sharp at the tip so the bonnet should be on the staff whenever it is not in
